Understanding Assessment and Improving Delivery in International A Level Maths
This face to face event is designed for teachers who are delivering the Pearson Edexcel International A Level Mathematics specifications.
This event will give you an understanding of how assessments are structured for the qualification and how your teaching can be adapted to help your students’ performance on examination papers.
We recommend you to also register for the public training event 'Getting Ready to Teach Pearson Edexcel’s Updated IAL Maths' taking place the previous day, on Thursday 21st November at the same venue.
- Be introduced to the idea of assessment objectives: what are they and why they are used when writing examination papers
- Analyse recent question papers and learn which types of question match the different assessment objectives
- Investigate different assessment objectives, considering how questions in these areas have been answered by looking at feedback from previous exam series
- Discuss strategies for teaching to try and make sure students can access questions targeting different assessment objectives

Further event details:
The content of this event is based on the reformed specifications for first teaching from September 2018. We recommend you attend the free Getting Ready to Teach event the previous day to this event if you haven't done that training yet as it will help increase your understanding of the assessments and provide more details of the way in which examination papers are structured.
Pearson has reviewed the format and content of all its training events to ensure that the security of its examinations cannot be compromised. Please note, in these events we are not able to discuss any centre or candidate-specific marking issues.
This event can count as 5 hours of CPD, certificates will be provided.
