DAY 1 BREAKOUT SESSION PREVIEW: Dr Fiona Rogers, COBIS: The global teacher workforce: professional learning, recruitment, retention and sustainability

Teaching is a truly global profession, with tremendous opportunities for teachers to develop their professional skills in diverse locations worldwide. But the success and ongoing growth of the British international schools’ sector, coupled with concerns about the supply and retention of teachers in the UK, could present a staffing challenge for international schools in the coming years.

In this interactive session, Dr Fiona Rogers, Deputy CEO and Director of Professional Development and Research at COBIS, will look at the role high-quality professional learning can play in staff retention and development, consider options for training new teachers through ITT in an international context, provide an opportunity to learn from other schools about innovative approaches to recruitment and retention, and review some of the findings from the COBIS research on Teacher Supply in British International Schools.

COBIS is a membership association representing nearly 300 high quality British international schools in 80 countries worldwide. COBIS exists to serve, support and represent its member schools and corporate members, and provides quality assurance, training, consultancy and other services for British schools worldwide.
